What Have I Gotten Into??!!

What’s going on everyone? I’m Elon Roland and I am an undecided freshman and this is my first semester at U of I. I never thought I would be blogging, but here I go. I decided to take this course to learn more about diseases in general and more importantly, I was hoping to find out more about about my disease Chrohn’s. This class is also fulfilling one of my Gen Ed requirements.

Three Links:
I am extremely happy to hear about the advancements of Chrohn’s. In this article the doctors talk about finding ways to heal the inflamed area of a person with Chrohn’s as oppose to just removing the pain. Which would allow people with Chrohn's to take a lot less medicine for pain. For those who do not know, Chrohn’s Disease is the result of uncontrolled inflammation of the intestines and is quite diverse, depending on the location of the inflammation and the severity of the disease. As far as I know, it is genetic and my doctor said I could possibly pass it on to my off-springs. The best thing about this article is that it gives hope to a possible cure, not only for me, but also for my children if they should get C.D. The way I look at it is I won’t have any kids until I’m about 30 so that’s 12 years. Most people are diagnosed in their teenage or young adult years, so that’s about 18 years. So in my mind scientist have about 30 years in total to come up with a cure for Chrohn’s before my child starts to feel the effects of the disease. This is just one step closer and I am hoping/praying more advancements will be made.
Peace!

  1. Hi Elon! These are not blogs, which is what the assignment asks you to go find. Just letting you know for next time, as following assignment prompts will be very important for the rest of the course.
